It has large roundish leaves and small deep pink flowers followed by plum like fruit that is too sour to be eaten raw but make great jams and preserves. Happy in shady areas but can handle full sun also. 7"/18cm pot | Malus purpureaThe Purple Crab Apple makes a handsome small tree, quite round topped in maturity. With beautiful flowers which are a deep, red-purple colour creating an effect that looks almost unbelievably rich.
