12"/30cm pot - Short specimens | Cornus kousa var Chinensis, Kousa Dogwood, Chinese Dogwood
This is arguably the world's most beautiful dogwood, with a fabulous show of white flowers in spring, and magnificent autumn colour. A beautiful small (up to 4m) deciduous feature tree and is extremely beautiful when in bloom. Flowering season is late spring, weeks after the tree puts on foliage again.
8" pot size | Strelitzia nicolai
Often confused with the banana palm, Giant Bird of Paradise are a gorgeous, tropical looking perennial shrub that creates the tropical look even in cool climates!
• Grows tall and narrow, often used indoors and out.
• White and black bird like flowers
• Tolerates poor soils, drought, coastal conditions and light frost | Malus domestica
Golden Delicious apples are yellow and very sweet. The fruit features a fairly thin skin that makes it easy to eat. Golden Delicious apple trees have white blooms and dark green foliage. They polinate many other apple varieties, so are a good apple tree to include in your collection.
Remember that apple trees need to be planted near other apple trees so that they can polinate eachother and produce fruit. Ideal companions for Golden Delicious apple trees are Fuji, Red Delicious and Pink Lady. This is because they all flower at a similar time. | Photinia robusta
A fast growing, small tree widely used as a dense, colourful hedge
• Dense glossy, green foliage that turns vibrant red in the winter
• Very hardy, tolerating clay soil, drought and hard frost
• Grown as both a small or tall hedge with white flowers in late spring
3"/7cm pot size. |
| Content | Rhaphiolepis indica 'Oriental Pearl' Indian Hawthorn
The attractive glossy foliage is dark green in colour and contrasts well with the massed display of flowers. Grows in full sun to partial shade with best flowers produced in full sun. Hardy and adaptable to most soils but prefers enriched, well-drained soils and appreciates an application of chunky mulch. Resistant to salt spray, and once established (with early good watering) will withstand dry conditions for extended periods. Is heat and frost tolerant to a degree. Excellent choice for pots, low hedging, massed planting in shrubberies or around pools. | | | | |
