Description

Sansevieria trifasciata

The Black and Gold variety of Mother in Law Tongue or Snake Plant features upright deep green almost black leaves with yellow lining around the edges. Extremely drought tolerant, hardy, easy to care for, little watering, can be kept indoors, and best of all can purify and remove toxins from the air. 6"/14cm pot

Strelitzia reginae

Exotic blue and orange flowers in the shape of a bird give this plant its name, Bird of Paradise.

• Tropical looking broad round leaves • Looks great in pots, along fence lines and in poolside gardens • Tolerates drought, light frost and poor soils

Ceratonia siliqua

The Carob Tree is known to be one of the world’s best natural sweeteners. The leathery pods are commonly used as a substitute for cocoa and have been cultivated throughout the Mediterranean as a staple food source for many many years. A tough drought-tolerant shade tree that also makes an ideal windbreak in our dry climate. It requires a male and female plant to produce the pods so plant a few to ensure good pollination. Plant in full sun with well drained soil. Mature growth 7m x 10m 16''/40cm pot
Liriope muscari 'Evergreen Giant' An elegant clumping ornamental grass with dark green foliage and very little mess • Clusters of little purple flowers on tall stems above the foliage • Beautiful plant for borders and edging, in pots and containers or mass planting • Grows best in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade

Phoenix roebelenii 'Pygmy Date Palm'

Date Palms feature an interesting, classic palm trunk that forms and grows larger as it matures. They have a crown of elegant dark green lacy fronds cascading from the top of this. A mature Date Palm will reach 2-3 meters tall. Old, dead fronds are best pruned off to expose the trunk as the tree ages and to keep it neat. The Date Palm is another good plant for creating a tropical feel in the garden which does well down South.

Lavandula angustifolia

Munstead Lavender is a dwarf-rounded bush with aromatic grey-green foliage. It produces dense spikes of aromatic beautiful tiny purple to violet flowers during summer. These are lighter in colour than Hidcote Lavender, and the plant grows slightly larger. 8" pot size

Bird of Paradise are native to South Africa, and are very hardy and can be grown in full sun to part shade. They get their name from their exotic blue/orange flowers that resemble the head of a colourful tropical bird.

Bird of Paradise have large, lush foliage and look great when used in rockeries and interplanted with yuccas and agaves. Great for creating a tropical feel in the garden.

We refer to these as "Flowering Bird of Paradise" or Strelitzia Bird of Paradise (a bit of a mouthful that comes from their botanical name) because there is another variety of Bird of Paradise called Giant Bird of Paradise. These have much bigger leaves, are taller growing, and are often planted together with Flowering Bird of Paradise to create a multi-layered, tropic garden effect even as far south as Melbourne.
