Also known as the Golden Elder, Golden Elderberry is a large deciduous shrub that has golden foliage from Spring through till early Winter. Fragrant star shaped creamy white flowers appear in Summer, followed by attractive dark purple/ black berries, attracting birds and butterflies to the garden. Butterfly Bush is a bushy, hardy perennial shrub with long graceful stems that bloom with pale pink flowers in spring-summer. These stems grow up to 1m long, but can be clipped back shorter, and sway gracefully in the breeze. The name of a popular variety, Whirling Butterflies, perfectly describes the way the plant resembles a cloud of butterflies when swaying in the breeze.

Purple Smoke Bush is a gem in the garden thanks to it's unique blend of colours that change throughout the seasons. A large deciduous shrub or small tree, its beautiful eye-catching Spring foliage is green overlaid with purple. Purple Smokebush gets its name from the clouds of smoke-like purple and pink "flowers" it produces in early Summer.
