Description

Beaucarnea recurvata

The Ponytail Palm is an evergreen minature tree that is native to semi-desert areas of certain South American countries. It is commonly grown as a houseplant and not only has aesthetic foliage but also produces creamy white flowers. Pony Tail Palms are noted for having a large, swollen, water-retaining base. Its trunk bears thin, flat, palm-like leaves. It is drought tolerant and is best placed in a position of full sunlight. Requires low maintenance. 12" pot size.

Strelitzia reginae

Exotic blue and orange flowers in the shape of a bird give this plant its name, Bird of Paradise.

• Tropical looking broad round leaves • Looks great in pots, along fence lines and in poolside gardens • Tolerates drought, light frost and poor soils

Liquidambar styraciflua

The Liquid Amber Gumball tree is a beautifully shaped “Lollypop Tree” with a dense, rounded canopy. Unlike regular Liquid Amber trees the Gumball is grafted and features an incredible mid green colour throughout summer whilst turning a lovely vibrant gold and crimson colour in Autumn.

Bird of Paradise are native to South Africa, and are very hardy and can be grown in full sun to part shade. They get their name from their exotic blue/orange flowers that resemble the head of a colourful tropical bird.

Bird of Paradise have large, lush foliage and look great when used in rockeries and interplanted with yuccas and agaves. Great for creating a tropical feel in the garden.

We refer to these as "Flowering Bird of Paradise" or Strelitzia Bird of Paradise (a bit of a mouthful that comes from their botanical name) because there is another variety of Bird of Paradise called Giant Bird of Paradise. These have much bigger leaves, are taller growing, and are often planted together with Flowering Bird of Paradise to create a multi-layered, tropic garden effect even as far south as Melbourne.

The Gumball tree has a dense rounded head grafted onto a straight trunk. Autumn colour is vibrant yellow-gold then turning brilliant shades of burgundy red. Gorgeous focal point tree for small spaces. Makes a good container specimen for your patio. Lush spring and summer foliage, and lovely autumn colours. The Gumball tree makes for a beautiful specimen grown in rows for some simple formality or works perfectly as a feature tree on it’s own in a centre piece of a courtyard or a garden. It has a magical looking flower which comes out green in Spring, it is truly like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The flowers then develop into spiny, spherical, green fruiting in autumn. The Gumball tree prefers a sunny position but will tolerate part shade and a wide range of soil types, including sandy or clay soils. It performs best in a well drained soil but can tolerate wet conditions. The Gumball tree will form a natural ball shape on it’s own, but you can prune it in Winter if you need to restrict it’s size.
