Spinach is considered an cold temperature, hardy annual, as hot summer temperatures can cause this plant to bolt. Which means go into seed, (the end of an annual plant's growth cycle). Spinach is best planted in part shade, in rich loose soil. It is also perfect grown in containers or pots. It's very easily grown, and a great addition to any beginners garden. Watch out for snails and slugs, they love the tender leaves of spinach. Baby spinach and it's nutty flavour is a great addition to any salad, and can also be tossed in a hot pan to be eaten cooked. Can also be eaten in sandwiches, chopped up for garnish or added to egg dishes. Spinach is extremely nutritional, and is high in antioxidants. Is rich in iron, magnesium, calcium, and lots of other vitamins and minerals, making it a must for any kitchen garden! 4" pot size.
