Description

Orthrosanthus multiflorus 'Morning Iris/Flag'

Morning Iris is one of those wonderful grass-like clumping plants that look fantastic with very little effort and also brings a rare true blue flower into your colour scheme in the garden. A member of the Iris family, the starry blue flowers only last a day each but are produced in profusion during spring and early summer such that the plant is rarely out of flower during that time. It is a really tough plant that will benefit from a once a year clean up after flowering with the removal of old flower stems. Prefers semi shade, but will tolerate full sun. Mulch to keep the soil moist and to deter weed growth.

Cercis canadensis alba

Cercis 'White Eastern Redbud' is a large, spreading Redbud with rich, dark green leaves with a tinge of blue in the summer. In the autumn the leaves turn yellow and fall, leaving bare branches, ready for the spring blossom of which it becomes covered in clusters of pure white flowers. See our Cercis Factsheet here for more about the different Cercis varieties!

Cercis canadensis 'Merlot'

With stunning, deep rich purple foliage in the summer the 'Merlot' Redbud makes for a stunning feature tree in the garden. In the spring, lavender pink blooms cover the bare branches and in the autumn the leaves turn vibrant oranges and yellows before falling. The 'Merlot' Redbud is perfect for small backyards. Colocasia esculenta 'Elephant's Ears'

Elephant Ears is actually inedible if ingested raw because of needle-shaped raphides in the plant cells! It's leaves are usually very large, arrowhead shaped, dark green and velvety. This plant adds a bold, tropical look to any garden. This plant can be grown indoor but flowering if rare. When in light shade but still strong light, it can grow massive.
