Dianella caerulea is a small evergreen, tufting perennial with strap like leaves, compressed into flat fans, forming spreading patches. It's a very popular landscaping plant in Australia, due to its hardiness. Flowers and purple fruit appear over summer, the flowers varying in colour between light and dark blue to mauve.
It can can tolerate dry and damp conditions and is a widespread native which will grow in many parts of Australia. |

BoxOz Lonicera is the best plant with which to create your perfect hedge or border as it grows quickly and once your hedge has developed its easy to maintain with only a few trimmings a year. New shoots are soft and easy to cut and trimming is an effortless relaxing experience.
Some traditional hedging plants grow only an inch or two a year. BoxOz Lonicera will produce a calf high border in under twelve months, a knee high hedge in around 18 months, and a waist high hedge in 30 months. Almost any soil is suitable, as long as it is not too swampy. Fertilise your BoxOz Lonicera occasionally with a complete fertiliser, and water as required. | For a hardy classic hedge or topiary you can't go past the Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusticana). Portugal Laurel or Portuguese Laurel is a large evergreen bushy shrub that makes a very effective hedge or screen when kept clipped from 1-4 metres. With an inoffensive root system, frost hardy foliage and the ability to withstand harsh dry conditions, it the perfect plant for any troublesome garden.
One of the best reasons to buy Portuguese Laurels to create a medium to large hedge is that almost nothing eats it! No hideous bites will be taken out of the leaves from nasty little garden pests as the leaves have a rather sour taste, so many insects and animals are reluctant to have a nibble.

Soil Requirements: Quite tolerant of most soils, but if you want to pamper it, it enjoys slightly acidic, moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soils.

Portuguese Laurels adds class and character to the formal or Hampton style garden. Also a popular choice in rural areas due to its hardiness. When buying Portuguese Laurels for hedging and screening, you'll need about three for every two metres of hedge you want to create.
