| Description | Acer buergerianumThe Trident Maple is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree, appreciated internationally for its ability to grow into a trouble-free tree that is also highly drought tolerant. It produces broad, hard, shiny rich dark green "three-pronged" leaves. The flowers that it bears in spring are a yellow-green colour and are small, similar to other maples. Makes a good street tree, and grows to around 12 meters. For an avenue we recommend planting 5m apart, or for a screen 2.5m apart. | Phoenix roebelenii 'Pygmy Date Palm'Date Palms feature an interesting, classic palm trunk that forms and grows larger as it matures. They have a crown of elegant dark green lacy fronds cascading from the top of this. A mature Date Palm will reach 2-3 meters tall. Old, dead fronds are best pruned off to expose the trunk as the tree ages and to keep it neat. The Date Palm is another good plant for creating a tropical feel in the garden which does well down South. | |||||||||
