Description

Phoenix roebelenii 'Pygmy Date Palm'

Date Palms feature an interesting, classic palm trunk that forms and grows larger as it matures. They have a crown of elegant dark green lacy fronds cascading from the top of this. A mature Date Palm will reach 2-3 meters tall. Old, dead fronds are best pruned off to expose the trunk as the tree ages and to keep it neat. The Date Palm is another good plant for creating a tropical feel in the garden which does well down South.
Sarracenias Common names: Pitcher Plants or Trumpet Plants. Sarracenia is a genus of carnivorous plants Indigenous to the eastern seaboard of the United States. They produce upright, funnel or pitcher shapes to trap insects and digest nutrients. They are very delicate plants and will need at least 6 hours of sunlight daily, sheltered by winds and frosts. Keep soil moist and use Sphagnum moss or peat moss.  Sweet Marjoram is a delicately flavoured cousin or Oregano. It has mild pine and citrus flavours. It is native of North Africa, the Mediterranean region and South-Eastern Asia. Although it is a herbaceous perennial, it is treated by most as an annual due to its sensitivity to frost and cold temperatures. It like a sunny well drained position, and regular watering. It can grow up to 50cm tall, but due to its spreading nature is brilliant to use at the edge of large containers to trail, in hanging baskets, in rockeries and for borders. Excluding the roots, all parts of this plant is edible, even the little white or very pale pink flowers. This herb is great used fresh or dried. In the kitchen, sweet marjoram enhances many dishes, and is deceivingly strong. The tender fresh leaves are great in salads, or mixed with spring veggies. And used fresh or dried goes great in any tomato, pork or beef dishes. It also adds a nice flavour to pizza. When adding this herb to a hot dish, add it in the last 10 minutes of cooking. This herb has many remedy uses. It has been used as a therapy for headaches, toothaches, indigestion, asthma, rheumatism, flatulence, earache, epilepsy, as well as for providing relief from labor pains. The oil extracted from this herb has been used as a healing cream for bruises and sprains. Sweet marjoram is an excellent common tonic, and it has a more potent affect on the nervous system than its close cousin oregano. However pregnant women should not take this herb medicinally. 4"/10cm pot

Limonium perezii

'Sea Lavender' is a gorgeous little textural perennial shrub, perfect for pots, living paths and mass planting. • Curled green leaves with tall purple, crepe paper-like flowers • Flowers used as cut flowers, long lasting • Prefers full sun to part shade in well drained loamy soil 4"/10cm pot size.

Cotinus Coggygria, Smoketree

Purple Smoke Bush is a gem in the garden thanks to it's unique blend of colours that change throughout the seasons. A large deciduous shrub or small tree, its beautiful eye-catching Spring foliage is green overlaid with purple. Summer brings deep purple foliage that then turns deep orange and bronze in a burst of glory for an Autumn show. Purple Smokebush gets its name from the clouds of smoke-like purple and pink "flowers" it produces in early Summer. These are very beautiful themselves, and are prized along with the foliage by florists. Grows best in full sun to partial shade and it is tolerant of drought and most soils, making it a great addition to many gardens. 10" pot size.
