| Description | Ficus rubiginosa
Port Jackson Fig Tree is a perfect feature tree with an incredible root system. When the climate suits, the plant grows much larger, sending down aerial roots from the tree which, when they reach the ground quickly form roots and become much thicker. They supply nutrients to the fig, allowing it to grow faster than the host tree. The aerial roots gradually encircle the host tree, preventing its main trunk from expanding. Despite the relatively large size of the leaves, it is popular for bonsai.

| Content | Ficus rubiginosa Port Jackson Fig, Rusty Fig or called 'Damun' in the Dharug language. A large, fast-growing tropical tree with evergreen foliage native to eastern Australia. It has a large spreading growth, smooth grey trunks with buttresses and oval-shaped deep green leaves with velvety brown underneath. It prefers rich fertile soil and has high water needs, particularly during summer when young. It will withstand coastal exposure but needs protection from strong winds. | Roses are easily one of the most popular and widely cultivated groups of flowering plants. Numerous different cultivars have been produced over the last two centuries although roses have been grown for millennia before their popularity bloomed. Renown for their flowers and beauty they are also loved for other reasons such as their fruit, the rose hip which can be made into an old fashioned jam or for garden uses such as ground covers and hedging. Roses range in size and variety from your standard and bush roses right up there with your climbers and weeping varieties, amongst all their beautiful colour, variety and hardy nature there is bound to be the perfect rose out there for your garden. | |
