Description

Cotinus Coggygria, Smoketree

Purple Smoke Bush is a gem in the garden thanks to it's unique blend of colours that change throughout the seasons. A large deciduous shrub or small tree, its beautiful eye-catching Spring foliage is green overlaid with purple. Summer brings deep purple foliage that then turns deep orange and bronze in a burst of glory for an Autumn show. Purple Smokebush gets its name from the clouds of smoke-like purple and pink "flowers" it produces in early Summer. These are very beautiful themselves, and are prized along with the foliage by florists. Grows best in full sun to partial shade and it is tolerant of drought and most soils, making it a great addition to many gardens. 10" pot size.

David Austin 'Candy Eyes'

Acer saccharinum

Also known as Silverleaf Japanese maple, is a fast growing deciduous tree that is one of the most common in North America. It is a tall, broad crowned tree that will develop multiple trunks and is also low branching. The cane-like branches damage easily but grow back quickly. The foliage is graceful and delicate being palmately lobed and veined. In autumn it makes a splendid display as the green foliage turns to a spectacular burnished gold colour. 13''/33cm pot Available online only, not in store
Lemon Balm, A clump-forming perennial that can grow up to 3ft tall. It looks very similar to mint in appearance, but it is not as invasive and easier to control. Lemon Balm has a delicate flowery lemon flavour and has a wide variety of uses. The fresh leaves can be used as a garnish for drinks, desserts and savoury dishes. It adds zing to fruit salads, garden salads, fruit drinks and punch, sorbet, herb butters, dressing and sauces. Lemon balm butter with a little pepper added goes well with corn, broccoli, beans and asparagus. Use in marinades or sauces to accompany fish or chicken. 4" pot size.
