Description

Aloe hybrid ‘Sharkskin’

Aloe ‘Sharkskin’ is a striking, architectural succulent prized for its rigid, triangular leaves with a unique rough, textured surface reminiscent of sharkskin. The foliage forms a bold, upright rosette, displaying deep green to grey-green tones that can take on bronze highlights in full sun. Hardy and water-wise, this aloe is perfect for adding structure to gardens, pots, or succulent displays while requiring minimal care.
  • Grows to approximately 60–90 cm high and 60 cm wide
  • Frost-tolerant in mild climates; protect from heavy frost
  • Requires free-draining soil to prevent root rot
10" / 25 cm pot

Strelitzia reginae

Exotic blue and orange flowers in the shape of a bird give this plant its name, Bird of Paradise.

• Tropical looking broad round leaves • Looks great in pots, along fence lines and in poolside gardens • Tolerates drought, light frost and poor soils

Boronia heterophylla 'Lipstick' A small upright shrub growing to around 2.5 metres tall, it has masses of bright purple-pink bell  flowers in winter and spring, which make great cut flowers. The foliage is aromatic and the flowers are lightly perfumed as well. Best in a partly shaded position with well drained soil, also a good potted plant. Regular summer watering and mulching will help to prolong plant life. 6'' pot

Bird of Paradise are native to South Africa, and are very hardy and can be grown in full sun to part shade. They get their name from their exotic blue/orange flowers that resemble the head of a colourful tropical bird.

Bird of Paradise have large, lush foliage and look great when used in rockeries and interplanted with yuccas and agaves. Great for creating a tropical feel in the garden.

We refer to these as "Flowering Bird of Paradise" or Strelitzia Bird of Paradise (a bit of a mouthful that comes from their botanical name) because there is another variety of Bird of Paradise called Giant Bird of Paradise. These have much bigger leaves, are taller growing, and are often planted together with Flowering Bird of Paradise to create a multi-layered, tropic garden effect even as far south as Melbourne.
