Description

Festuca glauca

Brilliantly blue, soft fine foliage makes this European native grass stand out in the landscape • Very hardy, tolerating most soil and weather conditions • Grown in pots, containers, as borders and mass planted • Low maintenance 2"/5cm pot size.

Pinus flexilis 'Vanderwolfs Pyramid'

This is a form of pine tree with an upright, conical shape and a strong central leader. Unlike most pines, the silvery blue-green needles are soft and closely spaced. Branches are flexible and interestingly twisted with an open habit when young which becomes bushier with age, generally growing faster in height than width. This variety likes well drained soil and is a good choice for hot, dry areas. 16'' pot

Acacia melanoxylon

Acacia 'Blackwood' is an iconic Australian tree famous for its timber, which has been extensively used for quality specialist furniture since European settlement. Growing into a large shade tree, the Blackwood's dense foliage makes it an ideal choice for a screen or windbreak with its pale yellow cream flowers blooming in winter and spring. It is cold and frost tolerant with low flammability and high tolerance to poor soils and drought. Plant with Acacia Lightwood, which flowers in summer, for year-round interest.   See our Acacia - Wattles Factsheet here for more about the different Acacia varieties!
