And it, too, can be used for sophisticated hedge. Magnolia's rarely need pruning as they grow in a compact and neat shape. Black Beauty is one of the most sold cut roses in the world it has medium sized flowers of royal velvet red with an tint toward black, with a yellowish reverse. The straight flowering stalk grows upto 6-8m and bears a large cluster of bright red flowers, each 10 centimetres across. The larger variety, the Doryanthes Palmeri, grows leaves that reach 3m, hence the name Giant Spear Lily. Its stalk grows upto 5m and droops rather than standing upright due to the weight of the flowers. Doryanthes Excelsa flowers in spring but can take over 13 years to flower. Flowering can be brought on by bushfires, which also promotes the sprouting of root bulbs 12'' pot
