The glossy, dark green foliage is heart-shaped and turns a yellow-ish green in Autumn. A native to Europe, it has attractive foliage and pendulous, fragrant, pale yellow flowers in Summer, followed by small winged nutlets. The bark adds further interest with its ridges and furrows.
